Hannah Alderson - Pastoral Chaplain

Photo of Hannah Alderson, Anglican Chaplain with an office filing shelf behind her

Hannah studied Theology at Exeter from 2005 to 2008. She thinks this isn’t a very long time ago, and is slowly coming to terms with the fact that it is. In 2016 she was licensed as St Luke's Chaplain, alongside being Vocations Officer for the Diocese of Exeter, and then became Lazenby Chaplain full time in 2019. She looks after the Mary Harris Chapel and St Luke’s Chapel as well as being a member of the Multifaith Chaplaincy team.

Hannah is on the leadership team of Open Table Exeter, providing a safe Christian space for LGBTQI+ people and their families and friends.

Hannah has a particular concern for students who feel on the edge of University life and are struggling to know where they fit (she once was one). She is always pleased to meet with students and staff for a chat. You don’t have to be a person of faith to meet with her, nor do you have to be going through a crisis – sometimes it’s just nice to sit and reflect on how life is going.

Hannah can be found in the Multifaith Centre at Streatham Campus on Mondays 12-2pm and Tuesdays 10-12pm, and at St Luke’s Chapel (St Luke's Campus) on Thursdays.

Elly Mosely - Pastoral Chaplain.

Photo of Elly Mosely, Anglican Chaplain, with lots of lush green leaves behind her

I’m Elly and have been part of the Multifaith and Anglican chaplaincy teams since I became a licensed lay minister in the Church of England in 2020. I love working with my colleagues in these teams, being able to provide a friendly and welcoming space for all members of the university community - normally with a mug of tea in hand.

After studying Maths and Psychology in Reading and then for a MSc in Ergonomics in Loughborough, I moved to Devon over 20 years ago with my husband. I’ve had various roles whilst living here, most recently working on community projects in my local town. It’s where my children were born and the landscape in which I feel most at home - walking on the moor and swimming in the rivers and sea.

内射大奶 Anglican Chaplaincy

The Chapels

is a beautiful, peaceful building, a quiet place set in the green south-facing hillside of Streatham Campus, and a space where you can simply be. As well as an open invitation to our services, at other times you are welcome to come and sit for as long as you like, and to light a candle – the chapel is open to everyone every day, both for private prayer and services.

has recently been extensively refurbished, with improvements made to the accessibility of the building.

Prayer

We have a board in the Mary Harris Chapel on which people can leave prayers, so if you are on campus then do pop in, rest for a while in the space and, if you so wish, leave something on the board. All prayers are read and prayed for regularly.

If you are unable to physically come to the Chapel, then please do email us instead at anglicanchaplaincy@exeter.ac.uk with the heading 'Prayer Board’. No prayer is too big or small and everyone is welcome to submit a prayer or thought.

Simon Taylor - Pastoral Chaplain

Picture focussing on Simon Taylor with a building on campus in the background

Simon is a dad, cyclist, breadmaker and (hopeful) guitarist. He describes himself as an imperfect follower of Jesus, facing the challenges of the world with the assurance of God's unconditional love. He is passionate about helping people explore what following Jesus means in a modern context and in coping with the pressures of everyday life.

As the Baptist Chaplain for the University he really enjoys being here to support staff and students. He is an accredited minister with  and is one of the ministers at  in Exeter city centre.

Simon has experienced a wide range of university life, having been an undergraduate and postgraduate student, as well as spending a brief period teaching at Plymouth University on countryside recreation (before he became a minister he worked in environmental education), and more recently as a chaplain.

Simon is happy to pray with you, or simply to listen – whether you have a faith or just need a friendly ear. (He's also more than happy simply to discuss cycle routes in the city or to share breadmaking tips.)
